In general there is room for most high street stores to improve their changing rooms, this could be done through the actual interior design. For instance new curtains, seating in the changing room and nice mirrors. Just to make the experience of trying on clothes enjoyable and glamorous. A possible idea would be to build a camera of some sort into the changing room so that the customer can take a photo to see what they look like the garment. In addition there could be a bluetooth system so if the customer's partner is standing outside the changing room, they can receive a photo of them. This way they can give their opinion, without the customer having to walk out the changing room with the outfit on.

Quiz Lookbooks
A possible idea would be to create a lookbook which included a quiz and the consumer could fill it in and put it in the envelope provided. They would return the envelope to store in the chance of winning vouchers to spend in the store or online. It's a way of getting customers to consume their brand on numerous occasions. If the lookbook could be personalised as well, this would allow the consumer to connect with the brand.
Textile Lookbooks
Like the children's books which have different materials in for the children to touch. A possible idea would be to create a lookbook for a fashion brand which had the imagery of the collection however samples of the fabric which could be touched, so the consumer new how the fabric felt. This could be particularly successful with signature garments which have been made from luxury fabrics. Components such as buttons could be used as well, to add different textures. Along with this could be sketches of when the garments were designed, to give the consumer an idea of the construction. It would be a personal portray of a brand.
Refillable Nail Polishes
With many people becoming aware of having to keep a 'green planet' and take of it, this has had an influence of many markets. People expect for some products to be recyclable or long lasting. Packaging has been a way for retailers to instantly promote an environmentally friendly brand. A possible idea for a make-up brand such as MAC or Bobbi Brown to provide refillable nail polishes, this way the customer can bring their empty polish container back to store and refill with the same colour or a different colour. Promoting the use of re-using a product.
Bin Washing
Wheelie bins can get smelly and it can be difficult to wash them. Therefore a possible idea would be when the rubbish is emptied into the lorry, there could be a device created that washes the inside of the bin. It could be offered once a month and it could be paid through a direct debit once people have shown interest.
Invite Hunt
When a store is launching or holding an event, to involve the customers there could be a hunt in store to find an invite to the event. It would be controlled in a certain part of the store, so there was no damage etc. In addition the winner would receive a voucher to buy an outfit in-store for the event.
Trolley
When grocery shopping and you pack your shopping into bags to then put back into the trolley. There usually isn’t enough room to fit all the bags back into the trolley without putting bags on top of each other. Squashing items you have purchased. Underneath the trolley there is room for a piece of metal to be added to the trolley, then extra shopping bags could be placed on the extra metal shelf.
Turf on a roll
When we reach spring/summer time and the weathers begins to improve, meaning people get out in the garden. Re-planting and re-turfing, to give the garden a new life. However when you purchase turf it's only provided in strips. A possible idea would be to go turf shopping like you would for a carpet, they would be on a roll so that you could purchase the turf in one piece. Taking the measurements of your lawn with you. Then you could have turf fitters which fitted the turf for you. Many different types of turf would be on sale, you could buy grass with or without daises etc.
Men's Sitting Areas
It can be stereotyped that most men don’t particularly enjoy going clothes shopping with their partner for the partner, as they become bored and distracted. A possible idea would be to have a section in a shop with comfy sofas/armchairs where gentlemen could sit while their partner tried on clothing, there could be refreshments offered. A possible partnership with a particular coffee brand such as Starbucks, so they could additionally be offered refreshments. There also could be small iPod docks, at level with the sofas, so that they could put their iPhone/iPod in to charge and then be provided with headphones. This customer service is going to ultimately make the customer happy, and provide an experience. If both customers are happy, they perhaps will be more likely in purchasing an item. This would suit brands such as Urban Outfitters, Topshop or department stores, only for selected stores.
Business Cards
Mid market brands should create business cards, for every member of staff, and it will provide details such as the staff member’s name, the store name, address and phone and fax number etc. This can be given out when a customer has a query or you are doing anything for the customer, it makes the customer feel special as they have taken part of the store and it makes the customer feel like they have a relationship with the store. Instead of a phone number being scribbled on a piece of paper. This creates a memorable factor for the customer but also is a really cheap way to promote the store and the customer service provided by the staff. It may be successful for brands such as Kurt Geiger, Whistles, Topshop, M&S and Oasis.
It's a way of showing creativity as well.
